As there were in Old Testament times Elders of the people for the purpose of government, so in the Presbyterian Church, are officers commisioned to govern the particular church. Ruling Elders, chosen by the people, are the people's immediate spiritual oversight of the congregation.
The Session is the governing body of the church. It is made up of The Pastor and the Ruling Elders.
The scripture clearly points out Deacons as distinct officers in the church. The office is one of
sympathy and service, after the example of Jesus Christ. Deacons, chosen by the people, shall
minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and any that may be in distress.
Administrative responsibilities in respect to the care and management of church properties,
and in respect to the financial affairs (to receive, hold, encumber, transfer real property) of
the church. The Trustees manage all permanent funds for the furtherance of the church's
purpose.
